Legislation around knives |
||
In August 2025, new legislation was released regarding the possession of certain knives. Yesterday, these knives were seized at an address due to them no longer being legal to possess even in private locations.
Flick knives are illegal to sell, hire, lend, give or possess in private in the UK, unless exemptions apply. A flick knife is defined as a knife where the blade opens automatically from a closed or partially open position to the fully open position by manual pressure on a button, spring, or other device in or attached to the knife.
From the 1st of August 2025, it is also illegal to possess (in public and private), manufacture, import or sell ninja swords in England and Wales. A ninja sword is defined by law, with a specific length (14-24 inches) and point style.
Penzance Police Station has a knife amnesty bin - a large red bin in the enquiry office - for people to dispose of their knives safely. | ||
